Important Information about Writers’ Week

Dear Aksel,

If youโ€™ve been past the Gardens in the last few days, youโ€™ll seeย it is already very much looking like Writers’ Week, ready for our kick off on Saturday.

Despite looking the same, there will be some changes to the way the site operates this year. Please read on to find out more.

We look forward to seeing you very soon!

Jo Dyer
Director, Writers’ Week

KEEPING YOU SAFE

Like last year, in line with SA Health directives, the site will be fenced and there will be aย reduced and strict capacity limitย in place. Regrettably, we anticipate that we may have to turn some people away during the busiest times, especially on Saturday and Sunday.

We recommend arriving early to avoid missing your chosen sessions.

Our team is working hard to ensure the event is as safe and successful as possible. Thank you for being kind to our staff and volunteers, and for following their instructions.

COVID-19 Management

Everyone aged 16+ will need toย show proof of full COVID-19 vaccinationย or a valid medical exemption. Patrons must show their COVID-19 digital certificate on their phone or photo identification with a printed immunisation certificate or official medical exemption with a negative test (for details,ย check our full COVID policy).

For help connecting your digital vaccination certificate to your mySA GOV check-in app, pleaseย click here.

All patrons will be required toย complete an SA Government COVID safe check-inย on arrival. Manual check-in will be available at the venue.

Masks areย strongly encouragedย for everyone aged 12+.

Do not attend if you

  • have been deemed a close contact
  • feel unwell or have cold or flu-like symptoms
Writers’ Week will be cashless.

Schedule Updates

With well over 100 Writers’ Week sessions and COVID-19 still a reality, there were bound to be some changes.ย If you have the printed guide in your hands, please note that a handful of sessions have been affected. We apologise for any inconvenience.

We will do our best to keep our website up to date, which you can checkย for any schedule or line-up changesย and at the Garden itself you can always refer to the timetable signs or ask one of our staff or volunteers.

Back in 2022

Curated Dozen
Experience some of our events from the comfort of your own home via ourย Curated Dozen. Some of the most provocative and potent sessions from our programย can be viewed live onlineย (wherever in the world home is!) across the week, tickets are available on a Pay What You Can basis.

Book Tent
Our book tent will be back in 2022! Please support our authors and Writersโ€™ Week in these difficult times for the arts sector by buying up big across the week. While you wait for Saturday to arrive, you can also find our authorsโ€™ books at our favourite bookshop,ย IMPRINTSย on Hindley Street.

PAY IT FORWARD

Share your passion for reading with those who need it most
Please consider giving a book to a child in need. Simply add a book or two for younger readers to your Book Tent shopping and let the staff know at check-out that you are donating your purchase/s to our Book Bank.
Weโ€™ll deliver all donated books to The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation to help children in Australiaโ€™s most marginalised communities gain literacy skills through access to quality books.
