Michael Reid PAINTING NOW + Jane Reynolds

Once again our friends at Four Pillars Gin have drawn creative inspiration from the Michael Reid network in selecting the work of Jane Reynolds as the face of their 2022 Christmas Gin. Made with Christmas pudding and aged in 100 year old muscat barrels, the 2022 Four Pillars Christmas Gin is set to hit stores soon.

To coincide with the launch, Michael Reid Sydney will host an exhibition Jane Reynolds’ latest suite of paintings, opening on Thursday November 3rd. Reynolds’ recent paintings at Sydney Contemporary 2022 attracted critical and commercial praise, and those wishing to collect the artist are warmly encouraged to be in touch from today.

PAINTING NOW assembles a selection of important voices in contemporary Australian and international painting. Showing across two Sydney locations, this exhibition focusses on progressive application of the painting medium.

Bundit Puangthong is a contemporary painter from Melbourne whose up-scaled and bright paintings fuse traditional Thai iconography with pop and street art aesthetics. Puangthong’s works pulsate with energy, mirroring the artist’s rich cultural heritage, commanding attention in the process.

PAINTING NOW sees Bundit Puangthong exhibit three paintings across Sydney and Art Bar locations.

Bather, 2022 is an abstract-figurative painting in muted tones. Kägi’s figure, encircled by strange ribbons of colour, occupies a sparse and spectral space, and is an excellent exploration of the illustrative possibilities afforded by painting.
