NSW Small Business Month is here!

NSW Small Business Month 2023 has officially started! There are hundreds of free and low-cost events to choose from this October. With so many options available, you are sure to find the right information, resources, and advice to help you meet your business goals this #NSWSmallBizMonth.

Here are just some of the many opportunities available this week (check out www.smallbusinessmonth.nsw.gov.au to view them all!):

• Small Business Month – Business Resilience Session (3 October 6:00pm – 8:00pm): Weddin Shire Council will be holding a workshop in Grenfell targeted at regional business owners to better understand their core business drivers.

• Goods and services (GST) introduction (4 October 11:00am – 12:00pm): The ATO will be holding an online session on goods and services tax (GST).

• When Monitoring Employees Crosses the Privacy Line (4 October 1:00pm – 1:30pm): Effective Workplace Solutions will be providing a lunchtime webinar exploring what is and is not okay when it comes to monitoring employees.

• My Small Business: Start Up and Scale Up Online! (4 October 5:30pm – 8:00pm): The NSW Small Business Commission will be holding an event in Orange on how small businesses can start up and scale up in the online marketplace.

• Don’t Get Hooked – Digital and Cyber Safety Skills for your Business (5 October 9:30am – 11:30am): The Rural Financial Counselling Service NSW will be holding sessions on digital and cyber safety skills. The first session will be taking place in Murwillumbah.

• Mindful Mastery Series (5 Oct 10:00am – 12:00pm): JEEVI Mental Health & Holistic Wellbeing Services are holding a ‘Mindful Mastery’ series throughout October. The first session will be ‘Mindful Selling: The Psychological Art of Persuasion’.

• 7 Steps to Business Success – Indigenous Business Workshop (5 October 11:00am – 1:00pm): Illawarra ITEC will be holding an event in Coniston for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on effective business planning, business finances and managing business growth.

• Keeping your customers’ personal information safe (6 October 11:00am – 11:30am): ID Support NSW will be holding a webinar on how small businesses can reduce their cyber security risk and what to do if a cyber security incident occurs.

• Self-Employment Assistance – Creating and Supporting Small Business (6 October 3:00pm – 4:00pm): The Department of Employment & Workplace Relations will be holding a webinar on what free support is available through the Workforce Australia Self-Employment Assistance program.

• Documentary Screening and Interaction with Crew (6 October 5:30pm – 7:30pm): 3DOTS Studios will be hosting a screening of the documentary ‘Visible Founders’. The first two episodes will be shown at the Western Sydney University Launch Pad on 6 October and in Fairfield later in the month.
