Glen Moray to Host Exclusive Whisky Masterclass – kicking off an exciting 2024 campaign

Continuing their success from last year, Glen Moray are offering whisky-lovers in Sydney another chance to delve into their rich and varied history, at Grain Bar with rising-star bartender Judith Zhu and Global Brand Ambassador, Iain Allan

Glen Moray Whisky is thrilled to announce an exclusive whisky masterclass as part of their participation in the Sydney Whisky Month, for the second year running. Taking place this year at the iconic Grain Bar in Sydney’s CBD, on 21st May from 4-6pm, this event offers participants a chance to deep-dive into the exciting world of Glen Moray Whisky, exploring the beautiful range of Whiskies the brand offers.

Hosted by Global Brand Ambassador Iain Allan, along with local rising-star bartender Judith Zhu (Bar Manager at Door Knock), the focus for this year’s expertly curated event is a journey through how Glen Moray’s stunning whiskies pair seamlessly with native Australian products. Guests are greeted on arrival with a welcome cocktail featuring Glen Moray’s Classic Cask alongside lemon myrtle, accentuating the citrussy notes within the whisky: producing the perfect, refreshing flavour to whet appetites for the masterclass to come.

This foray into new and innovative flavours is nothing new to Glen Moray, who pride themselves on utilising exciting and interesting casks, adding different flavours and notes to their whiskies. Their Cask Explorer line highlights this: a selection of whiskies aged in a whole range of casks, including Port, Sherry, and – most recently – Shiraz. Their Shiraz Finish whisky is an Australian exclusive, having been launched in Dan Murphy’s at the end of last year. This particular whisky has gorgeous notes of rose and red berries, and is part of the selection on offer during this year’s exclusive masterclass. This event coincides equally with the launch of two limited edition whiskies available in Australia online at The Whisky List: Rioja Cask Finish and Peated Rioja Cask Finish. With delicate notes of fruity plum – sometimes even chocolate – these bottles are not ones to miss out on (the Peated Rioja especially: think roasted nuts and cherry chocolate underlined by an elegant peat smoke).

A taste of what’s to come

The masterclass is a journey through the Glen Moray range, beginning with the younger, more accessible whiskies leading up to stronger ones – including some rare examples brought over especially for this event by Iain Allan. Divided into two parts, each selection of three whiskies is punctuated by a carefully chosen cocktail highlighting how the whiskies can pair beautifully with local ingredients. ‘We’re delighted to be back in Sydney for the second year running.’ Iain Allan, Global Brand Ambassador for Glen Moray said, ‘the mix of top-quality whiskies from our explorer range alongside a variety of Australian native ingredients has led to a really exciting masterclass.’

But this isn’t the end of Glen Moray’s time in Sydney! Sydneysiders will be thrilled to know that until the middle of July, Glen Moray will be available exclusively at Grain Bar: from 24th May – 16th June as part of their ‘Fireplace Seduction’ experience, before taking the place of honour as the Bar’s ‘Spirit of the Month’ from 17th June – 14th July.

Grain’s Fireplace Seduction showcasing Glen Moray will include an exclusive flight of some of their most interesting whiskies; taking place during Vivid this is the perfect opportunity for consumers to unwind next to the fire with a loved one away from the crowds, whilst still indulging in an exciting exploration of whiskies.

Then fast-forward to mid-June: Glen Moray being Grain’s Spirit of the Month will give consumers a whole new way of enjoying the iconic whiskies. With two exclusive cocktails, a whisky flight, carefully curated food pairing – and of course the option to drink the whiskies on their own – there will be enough to choose from to give all level of whisky-lover the dream experience.

This isn’t the end of Glen Moray’s exciting campaign in 2024 – in only six weeks’ time the whisky brand will be present at the Melbourne edition of the Whisky Show, on 6th July, before making their way to Brisbane for the 14th September edition of the Whisky Show. Both of these come after an incredibly successful stint at the Sydney Whisky Show on 18th May.
