LOOK LOCAL TO TICK OFF YOUR CHRISTMAS LIST
The NSW Opposition is encouraging people to shop local this festive season as they look to tick off the final items on their Christmas lists.
NSW Nationals Leader Dugald Saunders said there’s no better time to give back to our primary producers and regional communities.
“Whether it’s for a big lunch, a family dinner or a gathering with friends, remember to look in your own backyard when you hit the shops for supplies in the coming days,” Mr Saunders said.
“NSW has some of the best produce of anywhere in the world, and choosing local not only guarantees exceptional quality and freshness but it can also make a real difference to local businesses.
“From delicious food and wine to the floral arrangements on the table, always opt for stores within your community over the big brand supermarkets.”
Farmers have faced a number of challenges in 2024 including recovering from drought, biosecurity outbreaks and workforce shortages.
“Our primary producers work tirelessly to give us the food and fibre we rely on every single day,” Mr Saunders said.
“They have been extremely resilient over the past few years as they navigated through difficult conditions, along with our amazing range of local retailers and specialty shops, and now is the perfect time to show them our support.
“A large corporation won’t necessarily notice an extra dollar, but your local retailers, neighbours and community will, which is why buying local is so critical.
“Whether it’s food, sports equipment, music, arts, giftware, fishing supplies, toys or tech, just remember you have a range of incredible local options at your doorstep.”
