THINK LOCAL AND EXPLORE ALL NSW HAS TO OFFER
The NSW Liberals and Nationals are encouraging people to think local, shop local, and explore our state this summer to help support businesses and communities across regional NSW.
Shadow Minister for Tourism Kevin Anderson said recent Amex Trendex data shows 68 per cent of Australians will be travelling to visit family during the December to January holiday period.
“Whether you’re looking for a weekend trip away, a longer break, or an activity to keep the kids entertained, regional NSW has all you need for a summer to remember,” Mr Anderson said.
“Our regions are home to some of the most picturesque landscapes, the most unique and iconic towns, and some of the world’s best visitor experiences.
“Whether it’s visiting the world-famous wine regions, our crystal-clear, iconic coastlines, or one of our four regional UNESCO World Heritage Sites, NSW is home to some genuine ‘bucket list’ destinations.”
According to National Australia Bank, regional areas benefitted from an estimated $10.9 billion in holiday spending in 2023-24, up 12 percent on the previous year.
“When money is spent in regional communities, that money stays in the regions and benefits the whole community,” Mr Anderson said.
“Spending time in the regions also has a flow on effect to supporting the small businesses that are the beating heart of our communities including accommodation providers, pubs, clubs and shops of all kinds.
“That’s why it’s so important to support local because they provide jobs for our residents and families and also contribute to the vibrancy and economy of our towns and villages.
“On behalf of the Liberals and Nationals, I thank every accommodation provider, retailer, and hospitality worker who are facing their busiest period over the summer holidays, and I would encourage everyone to stay safe this holiday season.”
