Finding Hula in Hawai‘i

For many of its practitioners, the Hawaiian dance art of hula is a passion and skill shaped by years of teaching and knowledge, passed and perpetuated through many generations. Hula is more than dance – it’s a deep expression of Hawaiian culture and identity, perfected over years of dedication. From Kaua‘i’s Mokihana Festival to O‘ahu’s Prince Lot Hula Festival and the world-renowned Merrie Monarch Festival on Hawai‘i Island, these events showcase hula at its finest.

Mille Fête is a celebration of tipples, sweets, and savouries, crafted by James Beard Award-winning chef Robynne Maii, her husband Chuck Bussler, and pastry chef Katherine Yang (Gigi Blue). Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival

27-29 June 2025

The Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival, one of the longest-running queer film festivals in the U.S., celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. The festival utilises the power of film to raise awareness of and engage, energise and instill a sense of pride and respect in Hawai‘i’s thriving LBGTQIA and māhū community. The annual festival is presented by the Honolulu Gay and Lesbian Cultural Foundation, a self-supporting nonprofit, in honor of Hawai‘i LGBTQIA pioneer Adam Baran.
