Some of Australia’s best-known and up-and-coming musicians will perform as part of a free community event on the Northern Beaches to launch the re-election campaign of Independent MP Dr Sophie Scamps.

ARIA award-winning Lime Cordiale and Le Shiv will be joined by up-and-coming local bands Ah Honey, BabyFever and DJ Jaquel at Election Beats 2025 – which will be taking place as the 2025 election campaign gathers momentum.

Up to 3,000 locals are expected at Mona Vale Village Park on Saturday 5 April for the community event hosted by TV and music personality Danny Clayton, featuring inspiring guest speakers, and a keynote address by Dr Sophie Scamps MP.

With voter enrolments rising and more first-time voters than ever before, Election Beats 2025 aims to celebrate community action and show that politics can be positive, inspiring and involve young Australians.

Dr Sophie Scamps, Independent MP for Mackellar said: “This election is about our future and it’s important for young people to feel engaged, empowered and hopeful.”
“Millennials and Gen Zs will make up 40% of voters at this year’s election, and I’m hearing loud and clear they want real action on climate change, on housing affordability, an economy that works for them, and a future they can believe in.”

“Right now, traditional party politics does not work for future generations. The voices of young people are being drowned out in Canberra by the same old vested interests and lobby groups.

Politicians need to listen and involve young people in policy decisions, rather than simply talking at them and making decisions that will ultimately create a more unequal future for young people.”

“During this term I have sought to involve young people in their democracy. While I have also introduced my Wellbeing of Future Generations Bill 2025 which aims to impose a positive duty on government to take decisions that are in the best interests of future generations – something that is sorely missing from policy debate right now.”

“Election Beats 2025 is a chance for young people to get involved in their local politics, while listening to some amazing music and having a good time,” said Dr Sophie Scamps.

The 2025 edition of Election Beats follows the success of the 2022 Election Beats event, which helped launch Dr Scamps’ historic win as the first Independent MP for Mackellar as part of the Teal wave’ which swept Australian politics in 2022.
