100 years of Art Deco – Art Deco Style

Art Deco burst onto the world stage in Paris in 1925. Emerging after the austerity of the First World War, Art Deco was an exuberant international phenomenon. The visual culture of Art Deco is defined not only through architecture, but through art and design. From the luxurious to the mass produced, simplified lines expressed the dynamism of the Machine Age. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Art Deco, join Claudia Chan Shaw for an exploration of Art Deco Style – the skyscrapers, the decorative arts, the fashion and its ongoing influence.
