Adventure Racing Returns to Sydney’s Royal National Park!

Sydney, get ready to experience an epic day of outdoor adventure as the Max Adventure Race returns on Saturday, 31 May 2025, to the stunning Royal National Park. This unique, team-based event challenges pairs to run, mountain bike and kayak from checkpoint to checkpoint using a supplied map, testing endurance, strategy and teamwork. With trails, bushland and waterways on offer, it’s a day out like no other.
“The navigation isn’t difficult; teams that work together and pay attention will have no trouble locating the checkpoints.” says Race Director Mark Roberts.

There are various race options to suit all abilities and ages. The novice course is ideal for those new to adventure racing, it’s short, fast, and fun with approximately 5-15 km of mountain biking, 3-5 km of trail running and 1-2 km of kayaking. The classic course, for those who are keen for a longer and more challenging day of racing will include 15-20 km of mountain biking, 5-10 km of trail running and 2-4 km of kayaking, with some tricker navigation to keep teams on their toes!

Teams will take 4-6 hours to complete the event, which will start and finish at Reids Flat, Audley.
The event draws participants from across Sydney and beyond, with past racers calling it “the most fun you can have outdoors in one day.” With kayaks and maps supplied, all you need to bring is a mountain bike, a teammate, and your enthusiasm.
