Lightscape is coming to the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney as part of Vivid Sydney 2023. This internationally acclaimed multi-sensory experience of light, colour and sound is set to wow visitors.

Also, school holidays are back this Autumn with a jam-packed exciting series of fun, creative and outdoor activities in the garden. Join us by taking the kids to Alice in Wonderland, or book a fancy date-night at Handa Opera – Madama Butterfly on Sydney Harbour.

Handa Opera – Madama Butterfly

Take your seats at the Sydney Harbour stage for this critically-acclaimed performance – complete with a bamboo grove, a giant moon, and a rising sun floating in the harbour. The picture-perfect backdrop of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge twinkles with thousands of city lights as night falls.

Aboriginal Bushtucker tour 

Walk with your First Nations guide through the Botanic Gardens to learn more about Indigenous bush foods. You’ll journey through the Cadi Jam Ora garden and learn about some of the hottest bush foods on the market right now, all while tasting some goodies for yourself.

Astronomy at the Calyx 

Join us for a night of astronomy and star gazing surrounded by the intriguing Love Your Nature plant exhibition at The Calyx, in the heart of the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.

Botanical Science – Eureka Prize

We are excited to be part of the Australian Museum Eureka Prizes with the newly launched Eureka Prize for Excellence in Botanical Science sponsored by the Australian Institute of Botanical Science. The prize recognises the important role that documenting and protecting Australian plants plays in ensuring that species don’t become extinct.

Get up close with some of the Garden’s richest rainforest plants and learn what your mini forest needs to grow and thrive! Learn alongside our wonderful garden educators and build your very own unique Rainforest in a Jar to take home.

Blue Mountains Walking Tours  

Join a dedicated volunteer guide for a walking tour. Your guide will show you plants and displays of seasonal interest, give you an overview of the Garden’s rich and unique history and introduce you to some of the birds who make the Garden their home.
