Sydney Chamber Choir presents Winter Nights
The seductive beauty of French song: join us for an intimate evening featuring timeless ballads by cabaret legends Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel, irresistible flights of fantasy from Debussy and Ravel, while Poulenc reveals the dark secrets concealed by stillness in his winter cycle A Snowy Evening. Australian composer Heather Percy explores the mysterious beauties of day’s end in the world premiere performance of her Three Night Songs, and choral icon Eric Whitacre carries us gently into the mysterious world of dreams with the lush harmonies of Sleep.

After a stellar year of sell-out concerts, and having polled its fans and all the concert-going public, the choir has come up with a holiday season treat to satisfy all tastes.
“We asked our audience for their favourites, and then put them all together into one glorious evening of choral delights,” says conductor and artistic director Sam Allchurch.
“There’s something for everyone – the sublime polyphony of the Renaissance, the glory of Bach, the warmth of the Romantics…
and the Australian composers who have made a home in our hearts.
And whether it’s music from centuries past or music hot off the press, music on a grand scale or music for intimate occasions,
music throbbing with passion or sparkling with humour… we can’t wait to sing it for you!”
