Ferrari
Synopsis
Acclaimed director Michael Mann steps up the gears for his first film in eight years with, FERRARI, the electrifying biopic of iconic Italian motor racing driver and entrepreneur Enzo Ferrari. The sports drama is powered by astonishing driving scenes and supercharged performances from Academy Award nominee Adam Driver and Academy Award winner Penélope Cruz (with both tipped to earn a nomination).
Set during the summer of 1957, ex-racer, Enzo Ferrari, is in crisis. Bankruptcy stalks the company he and his wife, Laura, built from nothing ten years earlier. Their tempestuous marriage struggles with the mourning for their only son and Enzo’s romantic entanglement with another woman. Enzo is on the verge of losing everything, and he must wager it all in a roll of the dice on one race, the treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy, the iconic Mille Miglia.
While the drama still carries the muscular intensity synonymous of Mann’s films, it’s a suppler, gentler creation from the veteran filmmaker that delves into more complex and layered details of Enzo’s story with cathartic honesty.
