Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra Unveils Spectacular 2025 Season
The Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra (KPO) is set to delight music lovers with its 2025 season, packed with a diverse range of performances that showcase both renowned classics and exciting new Australian compositions.

The Concourse Concert Hall in Chatswood will be the stage for three major Sunday afternoon concerts:
- March 9: A Dvorak & Tchaikovsky program featuring cellist Hyung Suk Bae, performing Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor.
- June 29: The 41st annual NSW Secondary Schools Concerto Competition Final, a platform for emerging young talent.
- August 31: A Beethoven & Strauss program featuring violinist Teresa Yang, winner of the 2024 Concerto Competition, playing the Beethoven Violin Concerto on the historic A.E. Smith violin, and horn player Ben Jacks performing Strauss’ Horn Concerto No. 1.
The season also includes a range of community-focused events:
- May 25: Kids Proms concerts with an “Epic Quest” theme, hosted by Emily Who-McKnight and conducted by Edward McKnight, at Turramurra Uniting Church.
- June 22: A free community chamber concert showcasing Concerto Competition finalists at Turramurra Uniting Church.
- September 2, 9, and 16: Emerging Composer Workshops mentored by contemporary Australian composer Harry Sdraulig at Ku-ring-gai Town Hall.
- November 16: A bonus finale concert featuring Mozart, Strauss, and Beethoven, with Ben Jacks performing the Strauss Horn Concerto, at Turramurra Uniting Church.
In addition to these local events, the KPO will embark on its first regional tour in over 20 years, performing in the Handa Opera Gala Concert in Millthorpe on April 18.

KPO Artistic Director Paul Terracini expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming season, highlighting the orchestra’s commitment to showcasing both established and emerging talent, as well as performing a diverse repertoire that includes both beloved classics and new Australian works by composers like Harry Sdraulig and Paul Nicolaou.

The KPO has a long-standing reputation for excellence and innovation, with a strong focus on community engagement.
