A powerful new exhibition at State Library
Opening Saturday 17 August
Discover a little-known chapter in Australia’s history. In 1940, refugees from Nazi persecution who had fled to Britain were suddenly classified as enemy aliens and transported to Australia on the ship Dunera. Follow their extraordinary stories through almost 200 artworks, sketchbooks and diaries created in the internment camps in regional NSW and Victoria, and mostly held in the Library’s collection.
