SYDNEY’S FIRST 24-HOUR EVENT DRAWS 50,000 PEOPLE TO MACQUARIE STREET!

FIRST 24-HOUR FESTIVAL, MOPOKE, BRINGS IN 50,000 PEOPLE AND SHUTS DOWN MACQUARIE STREET IN A CELEBRATION OF ART, CULTURE AND DIVERSITY!

Sydney, February 6, 2023:  More than 50,000 Sydneysiders flocked to Macquarie Street to attend the first ever 24-hour arts and culture festival MOPOKE on the weekend.
NSW, and Sydney in particular, may well shake off its ‘Nanny State’ tag with a massive turnout at the overnight event with people from all age groups joining in to celebrate diversity, culture and creativity.
The Mint, State Library and other historic government buildings lining the iconic Macquarie Street, played host to avid art and culture enthusiasts who stayed up all night to enjoy the visual displays and entertainment of MOPOKE.

A 24-hour Open Air cinema, the first ever to be held in Sydney, a Glow in The Dark Garden featuring native plants, silent DJS in the alleyways, performing fire twirlers in The DomainFirst Nations workshops, live graffiti, a glow in the dark play dough garden, and all under the unique black light installations, kept the crowds entertained for hours.

MOPOKE is supported by the NSW Government and produced by BBR Experiential Agency.
Planning for MOPOKE 2024 is already underway with the event to be a regular fixture on Sydney’s annual what’s on calendar.
