Win a Madama Butterfly pre-show picnic experience on Sydney Harbour’s most spectacular stage
Four groups of lucky Sydneysiders will have the chance to experience one of Australia’s greatest outdoor events from a brand new perspective; onstage at Mrs Macquaries Point, in a competition launched today.
With a view usually reserved for the divas of Opera Australia, winners will enjoy a bottle of bubbles and a picnic hamper feast from the stage of Madama Butterfly on Sydney Harbour before settling into the grandstand to enjoy a performance of the critically acclaimed production.
There will be four winners selected, who can each bring three friends along to enjoy this money-can’t-buy experience.
The prize includes:
- An on-stage picnic for four, from 5pm to 6pm on Thursday 13 April.
- Two Japanese Hampers and a bottle of sparkling wine.
- Four tickets to attend that night’s performance.
The Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour stage is two times larger than any indoor stage in Australia, and the Madama Butterfly stage is an extra 10 metres wide on top of that. The unique design features a giant grassy hill, complete with a bamboo garden, representing a “lost paradise”.
From the stage winners will be able to see the sun setting behind the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House as the crowd fills into the venue before the performance begins.
To enter the competition visit opera.org.au/picnic to share which three friends you’d bring along, and why, for the chance to win. Entries close at 9am Tuesday 11 April, with winners notified at 5pm that day.
