Kimberley McRae killer Hector Enrique Valencia was today sentenced to 10 years for Manslaughter
NSW District Court Justice Yehia sentenced the Colombian student Hector Valencia to a maximum 10 year term of imprisonment for the manslaughter of Sydney sex worker Kimberley McRae in Coogee in 2020
Hector Valencia was a Colombian student who killed Kimberley McRae in her Coogee apartment after a sexual encounter went wrong when the assailant allegedly discovered that Kimberley was in fact a transvestite and assaulted the victim in a fit of rage which culminated in the assailant punching and hiitting the victim and then strangling her with a lamp cord. Valencia then flushed her telephone devices down the toilet and left her lifeless body in the flat and sought to flee Australia .He was later extradited from the island of Aruba on the Columbian coast.

On sentencing Valencia Justice Dina Yehia of the District Court set a non-parole period of 6 years and 9 months.
With time already served in custody included in his sentence, Valencia will first be eligible for release in November 2026.
“He punched her in the stomach and the face,” Justice Yehia said.
“A struggle ensued which resulted in both the deceased and offender falling to the floor.
“He (Valencia) held a cord over the deceased’s neck with both his hands for some seconds … the cause of death was asphyxiation caused by the compression.”
The judge said Valencia showed “callousness” as he fled Ms McRae’s apartment, leaving her lifeless body on the floor.
In his favour however, Justice Yehia also stated that the 23-year-old student had s since shown remorse for his actions and had “good prospects for rehabilitation”.
We reported earlier this year in february that Hector Valencia, 23, was found guilty of manslaughter after he pressed a lamp cord against Kimberley McRae’s neck and left the 69-year-old’s body inside her Coogee apartment in January 2020. It was argued by the defence that the victim was more vulnerable to aphyxiation because of a weakened neck ligature after the transvestite had her adams apple removed.
