NSW PARLIAMENT SPEAKER INVITES FAMILIES TO EXPLORE DEMOCRACY
The home of democracy in NSW is open this January in the Sydney CBD.
The Parliament of New South Wales, with its newly restored chambers, is gearing up to host an influx of visitors, with hundreds of families expected to embark on a fascinating journey through Australia’s oldest Parliament.
Explore the captivating stories of architecture and history that reside within our walls – from the hand-carved Speaker’s Chair to the packing crates that form the inner structure of the Legislative Council chamber walls, there is an abundance of intrigue for all.
President of the NSW Legislative Council, The Hon. Ben Franklin MLC, says families and history lovers are encouraged to take advantage of this immersive and educational experience, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of democracy in NSW.
“Our doors are open to all, and everyone’s invited to explore the home of democracy this Summer.”
“During the school holidays, we are delighted to open our chambers and some of our most historically significant rooms to everyone. From 8 January 2024, join us for free guided tours every weekday at 11:30am and 1:30pm.”
