Sydney is once again stepping up as a global leader in climate action with the return of Climate Action Week Sydney (CAW.SYD) from March 10-16, 2025.
Building on the momentum of the inaugural event this year, CAW.SYD organisers today announced major sponsors, the NSW Government, Future Super and Salesforce, as joining Official Partner, the City of Sydney and Founding Partner Greenhouse, in supporting the week-long program of community-led climate action events.
From major keynote events and presentations to community-driven workshops, CAW.SYD.25 promises to elevate Sydney’s role as a hub for climate innovation, collaboration and action.
Mark Rowland, Director of the not-for-profit Climate Action Foundation, which coordinates CAW.SYD, said: “Climate Action Week Sydney is by the community, for the climate. It’s about bringing people and organisations together to inspire bold action and create lasting change.
“With the NSW Government, Future Super and Salesforce joining as major sponsors alongside the City of Sydney and Greenhouse, we’re building momentum for what will be the premier climate action event in Australia next year. Together, we can inspire, foster innovation and collaboration, and deliver climate action impact.”
Georgina Leslie, Chief Marketing Officer at Future Super said: “As Australia’s first super fund to invest for a fossil fuel-free future, Future Super is proud to be supporting Climate Action Week. We’re on a mission to kick fossil fuels out of Australia’s super and invest in climate solutions to build a future worth retiring into. People power change and moving money out of fossil fuels is one of the most powerful actions we can take as individuals. The dialogue at CAW.SYD.25 supports our values around inclusion, community-building and innovation, and we can’t wait to join the conversation and be part of the change we want to see.”
Alex McDonald, Climate and Nature Lead at Salesforce ANZ said: “Climate change is the most urgent issue facing humanity today. At Salesforce, sustainability and trust are key core values. As AI reshapes how we live and work, we’re working across our operations, ecosystem, and investments to make AI more sustainable and equitable. We’re proud to support Climate Action Week Sydney 2025, working with some exceptional partners to accelerate the pace of change for taking action on climate change.”
The inaugural Climate Action Week Sydney in May 2024 saw over 6,300 people attend 115 events, supported by more than 200 partners and volunteers that united to organise, host, and sponsor events throughout the week. CAW.SYD.25 will build on this foundation, with a program aligning with key themes that reflect the urgency of climate action – as well as Australia’s potential to host COP31 in 2026.
The week will explore ways to create sustainable, resilient cities, nature-based solutions and accelerate the transition to renewable energy. It will also focus on mobilising communities, financing innovation, and fostering a regenerative, circular economy.
The event’s long-term vision is for Sydney to stand alongside global leaders like London and New York as one of the world’s premier hubs for climate action and innovation. It also aims to empower the next generation, celebrate First Nations leadership in environmental stewardship, and attract global talent, innovators, and investors to Sydney. Ultimately, CAW.SYD hopes to contribute to a more inclusive and ambitious approach to climate action that can be scaled across Sydney, Australia and the world.
Get involved: Event submissions are open
CAW.SYD organisers also issued a call for event submissions, inviting individuals, organisations and businesses to suggest events and activities that inspire, engage, and help accelerate climate action. Events can include keynotes, panel discussions, fireside chats, workshops, exhibitions, food markets, performances, and more.
“Hosting an event at Climate Action Week Sydney is an opportunity to share your ideas, connect with others, and drive meaningful change,” said Mr Rowland. “We’re building an exciting program and are looking for community-led events that inspire and empower people to act, creating ripple effects that extend far beyond the week itself.”
CAW.SYD.25 event submissions are now open at www.caw.sydney/host-an-event.
