Stonnington Comes Alive with Festive Attractions
With Christmas just around the corner, the City of Stonnington invites everyone to embrace the holiday spirit through Festive Stonnington- a vibrant program filled with seasonal cheer and opportunities to support local businesses and community groups.
This year’s festivities offer something for everyone, from dazzling decorations and a giant Christmas tree in Prahran Square to Christmas carols in Central Park and Como Park as well as special activities and offers in local shopping areas.
Key highlights include:
• Christmas Twilight Markets at Prahran Square
Enjoy artisanal shopping under the stars on Thursday, December 5 and 12 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. The markets will feature a wide variety of Christmas gifts, live entertainment, delicious food stalls, and family-friendly activities.
• Santa’s Surprise Visits
Santa and his cheerful elves will spread joy as they visit commercial precincts across Stonnington. Capture the moment with a unique digital photo frame, downloadable via a QR code, and create memories to cherish.
• Family Christmas at Central Park
Gather family and friends for a magical celebration at Central Park on Sunday, 8 December. Enjoy free children’s art and craft activities at 5pm, followed by a fabulous carols concert hosted by Sammy J from 5:30pm to 7:30pm and food from the best local food trucks.
• Carols at Como Park
Sing along to timeless Christmas classics at this beloved community event on Sunday, 15 December 7:30pm-9.30pm. Hosted by Lucy Durack, the event will feature performances by the hilarious Gatesy (Steven Gates), the soulful Silvie Paladino, and the vibrant South of the River Choir. It will culminate in a dazzling fireworks spectacular at 9:30pm.
• Gift Wrapping for a Cause
In exchange for a small donation to the Malvern Emergency Food Program, the Glenferrie Road Malvern Business Association is bringing back its annual gift- wrapping stations. They are located near the pedestrian crossing on Glenferrie Road Malvern and outside Malvern Central on Wattletree Road.
