City of Sydney Councillor Lyndon Gannon will challenge Clover Moore for Lord Mayor at September’s local council elections.
Lyndon has proven experience in delivering for the City of Sydney, and has shown decicive leadership leading the challenge against the Clover Moore team and their hold on Sydney.
The Liberals will present a diverse team, led by Lyndon, who will present a fresh vision for the City of Sydney and a Plan to:
- Address housing affordability and tackle the cost of living
- Improve our City’s vibrancy and
- Ensure strong budget management
Since his eleciton, Lyndon has held Clover Moore to account and:
- Improved integrity with an Australian first, Lyndon established the City of Sydney’s Lobbyist and Property Developer Meeting Code of Conduct. An important integrity initiative that will be expanded across other LGAs
- Supported small business by extending Sydney’s fee-free outdoor dining measures until 2025, removing the requirement to be seated while outside, and securing many of the on-street dining spaces for permanent use
- Ensured accountability at the City of Sydney including the establishment of a review into the City’s $100 million bungled rollout of advertising billboards and street furniture
- Built stronger communities, fighting to establish Sydney’s first pride museum, QTOPIA, by transforming the former Darlinghurst Police Station at Taylor Square, in line with the election commitment to transform Taylor Square and
- Tackled union influence as the only Councillor who held the Transport Workers Union to account during the protracted industrial action over the City’s waste management contract, while simultaneously supporting the community to maintain sanitation
