Thousands to gather in nation’s capital in historic stand against antisemitism and to stand in support of Israel

Former Prime Minister, the Hon Tony Abbott, will headline a group of bipartisan speakers at this crucial time in Israel’s history.

Leading MPs, diplomats, lobby groups, churches and Christian organisations are set to attend an historic rally, in a united stand against antisemitism exactly one year after Hamas’ invasion of Israel.

In an Australian first, leading cultural influencers from across the political spectrum are coming together in Canberra on October 7 2024, to stand in solidarity against acts of hatred directed towards Australia’s Jewish community.

The event, hosted by grass-roots Christian movement, Never Again Is Now, will follow a series of rallies held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, to highlight the growing tide of support for Australia’s Jewish community, post October 7 2023.

Never Again is Now was founded by Anglican Minister, Rev. Mark Leach after he confronted a group of pro-Palestinian protestors calling for the death of Jews, at the now infamous Opera House protest of October 9th last year.

In the months since, Christian volunteers from across Australia have come together to work with Australia’s Jewish community to take a public stand on the issue by holding peaceful rallies in Australia’s major cities.  The combined 20,000 strong attendance at the first four rallies testifies to the growing concern held by ordinary Australians about the unprecedented rise of antisemitism in Australia.

Appealing to the importance of upholding core Australian values deriving from Australia’s Judeo-Christian heritage, organisers are expecting thousands more to attend upcoming events in Canberra on October 7 and Perth on October 27. In efforts to cut through the division surrounding the Gaza conflict at large, the movement’s catchcry “Stop the Hate, Mate” seeks to resonate with all Australians, from all backgrounds.

‘We want this event to be one that all Australians can get behind, irrespective of ethnicity, religious or political background. Because, at the end of the day, antisemitism has never and will never fit with Australia’s core values that make our country the safe, free, tolerant society that we are so blessed to enjoy” said a spokesperson for the event.’

The Canberra national rally will be held on October 7 at 1pm, at Parliament House. For further details about the event, register your attendance by visiting: https://www.neveragainisnow.com.au/events
