Hay St Market announces its inaugural Bastille Day festival,a celebration of French culture, food and music

This July, Hay St Market at Paddy’s, located within Market City, presents its first-ever Bastille Day festival, transforming the city’s newest food destination into a bustling French Marché.
From Wednesday 9-Sunday 20 July, Hay St Market will come to life with a French food pop-up, cheese table, DJ’s, family-friendly activities and more.
Guests will be transported to the avenues of Paris and the kitchens of Provence – all without leaving Sydney.

Market favourites Thomas Hay Bakery, The Cheese Table and Haymarket Health Lab, alongside dedicated French pop-up carts, will showcase a curated menu celebrating the flavours of France.

The menu includes:

French pop-up carts: beef bourguignon with paris mash ($19), French onion soup, gruyere croutons $12, duck cassoulet ($26), steak frites with sauce au poivre ($26), crepes suzette ($12) and crème brulee ($9).
– The Cheese Table: croque monsieur ($15) and gruyere cheese gougères ($9).
– Haymarket Health Lab: salad nicoise ($15).
– Thomas Hay Bakery: pissaladière ($7) and quiche Lorraine & quiche Florentine ($9).

Coinciding with the July school holidays, the event will also feature a series of child-friendly cultural activities designed to introduce kids to French culture in a fun and relaxed setting.
These include:
– Face painting (2-3pm on 9, 11, 13, 16th, 18 and 20 July)
– Cookie decorating (2-3pm on 10 and 17 July)
– Craft station (2-3pm on 12 and 19 July)
– Accordionist (3-6pm on 10, 11, 17 and 18 July)
– Violinist (4pm on 13 and 19 July)
– Mime artist (3-6pm on 13 and 20 July)
– Live music and DJs from 6pm til late (9-20 July)

Hay St Market’s Bastille Day celebration is free to enter, taking place Wednesday 9-Sunday 20 July (excluding Mondays and Tuesdays).
