Iconic Nightspot KIT & KABOODLE Returns to Kings Cross After 8-Year Hiatus

SYDNEY, 5 NOVEMBER 2024

One of Sydney’s beloved late-night destinations, Kit & Kaboodle is set to make a triumphant return to Kings Cross, bringing back its iconic vibe of community, celebration, and unforgettable nights out. After an 8-year hiatus, original owner John Duncan is relaunching the venue with a fresh, modernized feel and enhanced lighting and sound systems, creating a dynamic atmosphere in the heart of Sydney’s resurgent nightlife district.
Kit & Kaboodle remains true to its legacy, weaving together a variety of music styles each night.

Thursdays will kick off with Kit Thursdays, blending classic party anthems. For Friday nights, Supper will feature RnB and hip-hop spun by some of Sydney’s top urban DJs. Saturdays will see the launch of Fiasco, a vibrant night of house.

ā€œAt Kit & Kaboodle, we focus on the essentials: good tunes, good drinks, and friendly staff,ā€ said General Manager and Licensee Joel McDermott. ā€œThe goal is to foster the same inclusive atmosphere that made the original Kit so memorable—a place where people can truly connect and enjoy nights that leave lasting memories.ā€

McDermott shared his excitement for the revitalization of the area, saying, ā€œKings Cross has always been the heart of Sydney’s nightlife, and with Kit & Kaboodle’s reopening, we’re bringing back the vibrant, dynamic spirit that so many people have missed. We want guests to walk away with that nostalgic feeling of an unforgettable night out.ā€

Though primarily a late-night venue, Kit & Kaboodle’s bar program has received a refresh under industry alumni Ashley Hougan Coutts (ex-Riley St Garage). The menu will be approachable, with an ethos of great cocktails made simple, highlighting fresh seasonal ingredients, whilst emphasizing quality over complexity.

Reviving another Kit & Kaboodle tradition, a membership model will be available, offering perks such as drink specials, line-skipping privileges, and access to exclusive after-parties.

Kit & Kaboodle’s return is more than a relaunch—it’s a testament to the revitalization of Sydney nightlife, reigniting Kings Cross as an essential late-night destination.

Opening Hours: Thursday: 9 pm – 4 am Friday: 10 pm – 4 am Saturday: 10 pm – 4 am
