Messina’s Cookie Pie Gets a Very Chocolatey Upgrade

On sale from 7 July 2025

Gelato Messina has given its cult-favourite cookie pie a rich new twist—now packed with crazy tasty pieces of Tony’s Chocolonely milk and dark chocolate – the impact brand on a mission to change the chocolate industry. It’s golden on the outside, gooey on the inside, and designed to be baked fresh at home.

Made entirely in-house by Messina’s pastry team, each cookie pie is crafted with the same care and obsession for quality as their famous gelato. And with winter well and truly here, it’s the ultimate stay-in dessert—served warm, melty, and best paired with your favourite Messina scoop.

Messina’s cookie pies first launched in 2021 and have taken many limited-edition forms—but this is the first time the OG classic has been reimagined with a new chocolate.

Each pie is priced at $25, with bundle options available including 500ml, 1L or 1.5L tubs of Messina gelato. Available from 7 July 2025 in all Messina stores and via delivery channels. Limited release. First come, first served.

There will also be single serve warm cookie pies available in all Messina stores (apart from Circular Quay and The Star) from 5pm each night Monday – Thursday during winter, which are $12 including a scoop on top.

To celebrate the launch, Messina has also created a limited-edition flavour that pairs perfectly with the pie—Brownie Points: salted milk chocolate gelato with lashings of caramel and Tony’s double choc brownie. Available in all Messina stores from 12 July for one week or until sold out.

By using Tony’s Chocolonely chocolate, you’re helping contribute to a more equally divided cocoa chain—joining Tony’s mission to end exploitation in the cocoa industry. Because for every bean in every bar, cocoa farmers get paid the price for a living income.

Gelato Messina is Australia’s most loved gelateria, growing from a single store in Darlinghurst (2002) to 32 stores across Australia—all privately owned and operated.

We make everything in-house – No pre-made bases or mass-produced flavour pastes. Every Messina flavour is created from scratch, including all toppings and chunky additions. Our own farms & suppliers – we have our own dairy farm (Jersey milk), hazelnut farm, house-made chocolate, and dulce de leche. Each store churns 40 flavours daily, with 35 traditional flavours and 5 rotating weekly specials. We’re obsessed with quality, creativity, and deliciousness—and now we’re bringing even more of it to Messina HQ.
