Michael Rantissi, owner of Kepos Street Kitchen in Redfern and Kepos &Co in Waterloo, was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, where his earliest culinary education was in his mother’s kitchen. These early experiences ignited a passion for food so, when he finished school, he studied at Israel’s Tadmor Hotel Catering School before furthering his culinary studies in Paris and New York.
Michael’s food is Mediterranean-influenced with a Middle Eastern twist, and draws on his favourite childhood food memories mixed with his classical training.
This week, he’ll be teaching SSS@Home guests how to cook his seafood bastilla, a North African filo-wrapped pie rich with nuts and spices served with a delicious fennel and herb salad. It was one of the most popular SSS@Home kits of last year, and we’re sure it will become one of your favourites as well! Why not make it a special meal for Mum this Mother’s Day, and impress her with your newfound gourmet cooking skills?
