Raising The Bar Foundation is getting behind the acclaimed new film La Cocina to spotlight mental health in hospitality.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Alonso Ruizpalacios, La Cocina is a high-energy comic drama set ina chaotic New York kitchen—think “The Bear on steroids.” Starring two-time Oscar nominee Rooney Mara, it follows a vibrant crew as tensions boil over during a single, frantic lunch rush.

Hospitality’s Mental Health Crisis
A staggering 80% of Aussie hospo workers report below-average mental health, according to Raising The Bar and University of Wollongong research. The charity’s Healthier Hospitality program is tackling this head-on, offering training in psychological safety, mindful leadership, and more.
Real Change—With a Side of Popcorn
“La Cocina’s kitchen chaos is all too real for many in hospitality,” says Daniel Chin, General Manager at Raising The Bar. “It’s a powerful way to kickstart vital conversations about wellbeing in our industry.”
“Stories stick with us in ways statistics can’t,” adds Elizabeth Tyler, Managing Director of good.film. “We love bringing together advocates with films that can communicate their message.
La Cocina first and foremost is entertaining, but by connecting it with the work of Raising the Bar it can also help drive real world change.”
La Cocina releases in cinemas Australia-wide on May 15th.
All tickets to La Cocina purchased through good.film’s Good Tix initiative include a 50% donation to Raising the Bar.
