NEWTOWN WELCOMES “HECHO EN MEXICO”- THE INNER WEST’S NEWEST MEXICAN STREET FOOD HOTSPOT

Big Flavours, Bold Margaritas & Rosa Cienfuegos’ tamal collab

SYDNEY, 12 JUNE 2025

Look out Sydneysiders, Newtown has just scored a hot new local: Hecho en Mexico. The cult-worthy taqueria is launching in Newtown, serving bold Mexican flavours, mouth-watering margaritas and an exclusive collab with beloved Mexican-Australian chef, Rosa Cienfuegos.

Born in Victoria’s vibrant suburb of Fitzroy back in 2013, Hecho en Mexico quickly became the #1 Mexican restaurant for Fitzroy locals.

The local neighbourhood spot has since grown into a family of restaurants, with its newest location gracing the streets of the Inner West’s very own vibrant suburb of Newtown.

To celebrate the launch and in partnership with Cointreau and Teremana, Hecho en Mexico is offering a two-week-only deal: $5 tacos and $15 margaritas, from 12th June.

For those who love variety, Hecho en Mexico’s drink menu serves an extensive lineup of 12 handcrafted margaritas, all made with Cointreau Orange liqueur and Teremana tequila.

The newest Mexican taqueria is set to be Newtown’s fan favourite, as Hecho en Mexico is the only venue in Sydney where you will find three varieties of Rosa Cienfuegos’ signature tamales. In an exclusive partnership with the venue, Rosa has curated two savoury and one sweet variety of tamales, which will only be available from Hecho en Mexico, Newtown.

Still hungry? There are plenty more options available on the extensive menu. From spicy to mild, the signature dishes leading the menu include a variety of tacos, burritos, and nachos, not to mention the extensive vegan options, offering a bite for all.

Created by a team of passionate locals, every dish on the menu is a love letter to Mexican street food with a fresh Newtown twist.

You can also book in for a bottomless brunch, at $85 per head for unlimited gourmet tacos and unlimited booze for a 2 hour booking. Newtown too far? No worries, as Hecho En Mexico will be launching another venue in Lane Cove at the end of June.
