Sydney, Australia | 2 September 2024
Nour, a flagship restaurant of the ESCA Group, announces the appointment of Ibrahim Kasif as its new Head Chef. His appointment marks an exciting evolution for Nour, building on its celebrated Middle Eastern cuisine.
Located in the heart of Surry Hills, Nour has long been praised for its contemporary take on classic Lebanese flavours, presented within its pastel-hued, light-filled interiors. Under the expert guidance of Executive Chef Paul Farag, Nour has garnered a solid reputation. As Farag passes the baton to Kasif, he leaves behind a legacy of success, turning his focus to some exciting new ESCA ventures.
Kasif, the former owner and head chef of the hatted Stanbuli, brings over a decade of experience in Middle Eastern cuisine to Nour. Known for his creative flair and deep understanding of traditional flavours, Ibrahim is set to introduce a whole new menu that will captivate guests.
The new menu from Kasif features standout dishes such as woodfired stuffed mussels with pine nut rice and chicken fat butter; raw kingfish tabbouleh with horseradish cacik and sesame leaf; and dry aged half duck mishwe with baharat and ottoman quince sauce. For vegetarians, the woodfired mushrooms with burnt leeks and muhammara are a highlight, along with the mountain salad featuring green olives, pomegranates, walnuts, and pistachios for a fresh and vibrant choice.
Kasif is the perfect person to lead Nour into its next chapter. Paul has set an extremely high standard, and we know that Kasif’s passion and expertise will continue to elevate Nour. I’ve been a huge fan of Kasif’s cooking for years since Istanbuli, so it’s an honour to finally have him join the ESCA team. I’ve had the privilege of sampling his new dishes that will soon be on the menu, and I can’t wait to see how our guests will respond.” says Ibby Moubadder, Co-founder of ESCA Group.
“Paul has done extraordinary work here, and I am honoured to continue his legacy. Our reimagined menu will continue to celebrate the flavours of the Middle East while introducing some innovative twists that our guests will love. It’s a new chapter for Nour, but one that honours its rich history.”says Ibrahim Kasif, Head Chef of Nour.
Nour’s new menu will be a testament to Kasif’s prowess, featuring a range of dishes that highlightmthe best of Middle Eastern cuisine with a contemporary edge. Guests can expect Nour’s signature blend of tradition with a modern flair, all within the welcoming and sophisticated atmosphere that has made Nour a staple in Surry Hills.
