Sydney’s Best Pubs Named at AHA NSW Awards for Excellence

The Laundy family’s The Log Cabin at Penrith has been named the best hotel in Sydney – taking out the Metropolitan Hotel of the Year award at the AHA NSW Awards for Excellence.
The Log Cabin team accepted the top accolade before an audience of more than 1,200 industry peers and community leaders.
The prestigious event was held for the first time at the WINX Stand at Royal Randwick Racecourse and celebrated hospitality excellence across a record 46 categories.

At the event, Sydney pubs took home awards in a range of categories including Best Metropolitan Local won by The Governor Hotel, Group Hotel Operator of the Year for Laundy Hotels and Metropolitan Chef of the Year won by Opera Bar’s Fernando Sanchez.
NSW hotel industry legend David “Taffy” Thomas was also inducted into the AHA NSW Hall of Fame.

Hills District venue, Sarino’s, Mullane’s Hotelwas awarded Best Wine Listfor the second year running and The Abercrombie Hotel at Chippendaletook home two awards including Best Unique Bar Experience(Including small, cocktail, lounge or themed bars) and Best Innovative Refurbishment.

Best Cocktail List went to Barangaroo House, while Best Deluxe Pub Accommodation ($130 and over) was awarded to Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel.
Best Late-Night Venue was won by Universal, Darlinghurst.
Best Metropolitan Re-development went to the Woolly Bay Hotel, while the newly constructed Willowdale Hotel at Denham Courtwas named winner of the Disability Inclusion and Access Award.
Redcape Hotel Group took home the Heart of the Community award in back-to-back wins, while The Marsden Brewhouse was named Best Family Friendly hotel.
Coogee Bay Hotel was named winner for Best Outdoor Experience.
