Seasonal Wines from ALDI available november & december -Summer/ Festive Season 2023
Dear Reader
Please find listed a range of ALDI wines with Official ALDI Tasting notes (by ALDI Wine Buying Director – Wine & Sparkling Mr.Jason Bowyer) that are available in the period leading up to Christmas and New Year which are currently on the testing bench and being evaluated by the Sydney Times wine editor with our comments and tasting notes to follow in the near future.
We received these wines for evaluation from ALDI who stated in the covering letter :
“We are committed to bringing innovation and extreme value to the market. We seek to present wine options that tap into trends and are bringing the modern wine movement into the retail space. As such we are delighted to present these wines with different profile and style to you for your review and to our customers.”
The below are a mixture of seasonal releases and new core range lines.
1. Marie De Moy Premier Cru Champagne NV – $39.99 (October – January 2023/24)
A complex and elegant champagne that is fresh showing aromas of pear, citrus, light honey, and candied fruits. It’s focused and has wonderful power and line in the mouth, whilst retaining its charm.Won 91points JS wine ratings. 69% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 1% Pinot Meunier
2. Monsigny Premier Cru Champagne NV – $39.99 (Available now through to Christmas 2023)
A step up, from its younger sibling the Brut Selection NV, this Premier Cru Champagne produced by an awarded family estate in the hallowed town of Epernay, is a complex, creamy style with notes of red apples, toasty brioche, baked bread backed up by some refreshing acidity.
3. Collezione Oro Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut – $14.99 (Available October – December 2023)
Hailing from the famous Veneto sub-region of Asolo, this DOCG region sets to excite Prosecco to a higher level than just DOC. It bursts with pretty pear and floral fruits, finishing crisp, fresh, and laced with white exotic fruits and a lingering finish. In 2022, the quality of Asolo rated far higher than that of Valdobbiadene and rated supremo in our
tastings.
4. Charles Renoir – Cremant de Bourgogne – $17.99 (Available now in our NSW stores)
With elegant bubbles, this Crémant presents a creamy yet crisp style, with beautiful zest and a luxurious mouthfeel. Burgundy at its finest – Champagne, without the price tag! Layered with white stonefruits, citrus and a layered lick of red fruits and mild toasty honey notes.
5. Collezione Oro Prosecco Rose DOC – $12.99 (Available Oct 2023 – March 2024)
Stunning Italian Prosecco Rose is soft pink in color with subtle hints of small red fruits and pomegranate. Best served chilled and the perfect party starter!
6. The Venturer Series Riverina King Valley Pinot Grigio 2023 – $9.99 (Available Oct 2023 – March 2024)Fresh, Crisp, Zippy and loaded full of Nashi pear aromas with hints of honeysuckle and lychee. Refreshing, it’s jam-packed with flavours of juicy green pear and pear blossom and finishes with mouthwatering acidity and a light dry palate.
7. Grand Les Maurins Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc 2022 – $9.99 (Available Oct – Dec 2023)
Grands Les Maurins presents a bright colour with green highlights. The nose is lively elegant with light smoky notes and floral hints with fruity undertones (acacia, white flowers). The palate is well balanced with a fresh finale characterized by floral hues of white peach and mandarin peel. Grands Les Maurins pairs perfectly with shellfish, grilled fish, or smoked salmon.
8. The Standing People Lighter in Alcohol Pinot Gris 2022 – $10.99 (Available Oct 2023 – March 2024)
A refreshingly light ABV of 9.9%, with a delicate aromatic cue of lemon, apple, and pear. A fresh and vibrant wine with flavours that flow effortlessly to fill the palate and finish long, pure and refreshing with cleansing acidity.
9. L’Expression Sud France Pinot Gris 2022 – $9.99 (Available Oct 2023 – March 2024)
Light-straw colour, with a sweet floral aroma, the palate is clean and bright, fruity and pear-like, with softness and approachable charm.
10. Blackstone Paddock Limited Release Margaret River Chardonnay 2022 – $19.99 (Available now 2023,
whilst stocks last)
The Blackstone Paddock wines are the truest form of region, with the skills of our highly acclaimed winemaker, this chardonnay delivers unrivalled value and calibre. Distinctly flinty and complex with layers of stonefruit, grapefruit and honeysuckle blossom. This is contemporary Australian Chardonnay at its best.

11. Grand Les Maurins Bordeaux Rose 2022- $9.99 (Available Oct – Dec 2023)
Grands Les Maurins is a rose blush colour. The wine presents a complex bouquet with mouthwatering aromas of light forest fruits and spices. Round and mellow on the palate, underscored by a fresh lingering finish.
12. Soupcon de Fruit Rose d’Anjou 2022 – $11.99 (Available Oct 2023 – March 2024)
Soupcon de Fruit delivers a Rose d’Anjou dominated by freshness. Pale pink in colour with a fruity bouquet. The palate is full and smooth with beautiful lingering red fruit flavours. Let the French sunshine into your summer.
13. Marques del Atrio Rioja Reserva 2017 $12.99 (Available now 2023)
A five-year-old wine that steals the room with its youthfulness and complexity. Intense garnet colour with terracotta highlights. Aromatic and spicy on the nose with smoky touches and aromas of forest fruits, ripe strawberries, plums, black cherry and hints of coconut. Round and powerful on the palate with ripe tannins. Firm and round, long, and complex finish. 91/100 James Suckling
14. Wolf Blass Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 $14.99 (Available now 2023)
A blend of Shiraz & Cabernet Sauvignon from the Barossa, McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills. Bright and energetic colour, with lifted fragrant spice and dark wild fruit aromas of blackberry and blood-plum. This elegant yet generous wine, having a plush, rich palate with smooth textural tannins contributing lovely palate length. Will reward cellaring 3 – 5
years.
