ENJOY 12 DAYS OF EASTER FARE FREE

Commuters across Greater Sydney will travel for free on all modes of transport for 12 days in a row during the Easter school holidays so families and friends can get out and about and help revitalise our city centres.

Minister for Transport and Veterans David Elliott said it’s been a challenging time for many following COVID-19 restrictions, adverse weather and disruptions to the rail network, and this delivers some hip pocket relief as well as a boost to small businesses that have been doing it tough.

“To commuters affected by recent rail disruptions, I want to say a heartfelt thank you for your patience. I hope the Fare Free 12 Days of Easter is a way for you to enjoy quality time with family and friends during the school holidays, while at the same time helping to revitalise our city centres and local communities,” Mr Elliott said.

“Head out and enjoy a long lunch on Eat Street in Parramatta, then stay for the Eels Vs Tigers match on Easter Monday, or commemorate Anzac Day in the city then enjoy a meal and a game of two-up, with public transport costs for the whole family on us.

“If you’re like me you’ve got some Dine & Discover vouchers waiting to be used, so get the family together or gather your friends and take advantage of free travel to rediscover the best our city has to offer.

“It’s also the perfect time to take a trip to the Blue Mountains, Newcastle or the South Coast.”

The Fare Free 12 Days of Easter covers all Opal network services in Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, the Hunter and the Illawarra, and includes Metro, train, bus, light rail and ferry services.

All modes of transport will be free for commuters for 12 days from 4am on 14 April 2022, Holy Thursday, to 3:59am on 26 April 2022, immediately following ANZAC Day.
