The Isobel Bennett-Sydney’s newest Australian-made ferry 

Sydney’s newest Australian-made ferry Isobel Bennett entered service at 8:15am this morning, departing Cabarita Wharf for Circular Quay. She is the third of 7 new Australian-made vessels entering the Sydney Ferry flee

Designed by Incat Crowthers in the Northern Beaches
Built by Richardson Devine Marine in Hobart
The ferry is the third of seven new Parramatta River Class vessels which will replace the 30 year old RiverCat and SuperCats.
She will serve on the F3 Circular Quay to Parramatta Route

 

The vessels have a 200-person capacity and use 40% less fuel than the vessels they replace
Once construction was completed in Hobart, the new ferry underwent sea-trials on the Derwent before setting off on her trip to Sydney Harbour
The vessel will enter service in the coming weeks
The vessel is named after an accomplished marine biologist Isobel Bennett
