Australia’s first Disney Cruise ship is setting sail from Sydney today, officially launching the nation’s newest cruise line.
The Disney Wonder was officially welcomed to the harbour city yesterday when passengers were given a sneak peek of the ‘Disney Magic at Sea’ voyages.
Shadow Minister for Tourism Gurmesh Singh said this could not have come at a better time with the 2023-24 summer cruise season now underway.
“The arrival of this new cruise operator is an important moment for the industry, the NSW tourism sector and our future economic growth”, Mr Singh said.
“Cruises are a great holiday option for families, friends and couples to enjoy, packed with award-winning entertainment, world-class dining and all the magic that Disney creates.
“All indications show this year’s season will be the biggest and best yet, with billions of dollars expected to go into the NSW economy.
“The cruise industry is sailing into an even brighter future and it can only get bigger, creating more jobs and more exciting opportunities for our State.”
There will be many as 331 cruise calls into NSW ports during the season, which is up almost 16 per cent from the previous summer.
