The Fred Hollows Foundation is thrilled to announce the return of the Sydney Harbour Hike, a spectacular 34km walk along one of the world’s most beautiful urban coastal treks, on Sunday, 13th of October. This scenic event invites participants to immerse themselves in Sydney’s breathtaking views while raising crucial funds to restore sight.
Participants will start their journey on Bondi Beach, winding past iconic Aussie landmarks such as Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair, the Sydney Opera House, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge before finishing at Broughton Street Lookout, Kirribilli.
This year marks the third annual Sydney Harbour Hike, that began in 2022 following the success of The Fred Hollows Foundation’s virtual fitness challenge, Fred’s Big Run. Over the past two years, more than 1,000 participants have walked the Harbour, raising over $480,000. This year, The Foundation aims to raise $500,000 to support its sight-restoring programs across more than 25 countries.
Gabi Hollows, Founding Director of The Fred Hollows Foundation, shared her excitement for the event:
Every dollar raised from the Sydney Harbour Hike will go directly towards The Fred Hollows Foundation’s mission to restore sight and end avoidable blindness.
