It’s a great week to be releasing our small batch wines. After two months of Coronavirus gloom, you can feel the rising optimism in the air. Here’s what we have for you, our marvellous mailing list customers:
For Clonakilla devotees the Rare Red Six Pack is a fine option: two each of the 2019Pinot, the 2017Western Vineyard and the 2016T&L Vineyard Block One(one of the greatest wines we have ever made), delivered free of charge in one of our beautiful lay-down packs, all for $500.
2019 Pinot Noir
From our estate vineyard. 30% whole bunch. Clones 777, 115, 667, Abel, Pommard, and the unknown clone John Kirk planted at Clonakilla in 1978.
2019 Tumbarumba Chardonnay
Whole bunch pressed then fermented in 500L puncheons, 30% new. 11 months in oak.
2019 Viognier
Majority whole bunch pressed, 30% of the fruit given 24 hours skin contact. Fermented and matured for 11 months in 600L demi-muids.
2017 Western Vineyard
From the ‘Western Vineyard’, planted in 1990 right next to the winery. 50% whole bunch. 20 months in 100% new oak 500L puncheons.
2016 T&L Vineyard Block One (ONLY AVAILABLE IN RARE RED SIX PACK)
From the lower half of T&L vineyard, block one, planted in 1999 to clones 1127 and PT23. 20% whole bunches. One year in barriques (one third new), then another year in puncheons.
You will notice there is no Syrah offered in our small batch release this time around.
With our smoke taint issues from the 2020 vintage, we have decided to hold back the release of the 2019 Shiraz Viognier until March 2021. The 2018 Syrah will be released in its place in the first week of September this year. Believe me, it is worth waiting for!
